Taiko Drum Band

This taiko ensemble combines the best of traditional and powerful taiko styles with an innovative, sublime, modern aesthetic.  Instruments featured are percussion, bamboo flutes, marimba and koto (Japanese harp). Performances can be customized to include high energy, dynamic performances with the power and excitement of Japanese drums to the subtle melodic accompaniment and nuance of the koto (Japanese harp), marimba, and yokobue (bamboo flute). 

The Taiko Drum Group has performed in numerous festivals, events and concerts in it’s 20 years of existence.  Some of the performances include playing at large venues such as the Hollywood Bowl, Dorothy Chandler Pavillion, Japan America Theater, Staples Center, Dodger Stadium, Anaheim Stadium, Nokia Theater, John Anson Ford Amphitheater, UCLA’s Royce Hall and a Super Bowl Pre-game show.

Recently they have appeared in TV shows such as the Voice, NBC Fashion Star, Academy Awards show and an episode of CSI.  The group has also been featured on movie soundtracks such as “The Thin Red Line”, “The Last Samurai”, “Memoirs of a Geisha” and “Battleship.”  They have also been featured on the music video, “Princess of China” which features Chris Martin of Coldplay and Rhianna.
